CADD, Rowe launch wide-format printers, scanners
CHENNAI, JAN 8: CADD Centre India has partnered with Rowe of Germany to launch new wide-format printers and scanners that are typically used for design in various sectors, including manufacturing.
The products will include remote diagnostics, auto meter reading, monthly billing and automatic toner indicator sensing for reorder. The two companies will develop products for the Indian design and engineering industry.
Dr Stefan Wekbach, Consul-General, Federal Republic of Germany, facilitated the exchange of the agreement and launched the products at a function. R. Parthasarathy, Chairman and Managing Director, CADD group, said design is the core for the manufacturing sector to create a huge demand for such large-size format printers. Also, India is becoming a hub for many multinational companies to set up their design centres.
CADD is one of the largest suppliers of wide format solutions. It has nearly 420 engineering companies as clients. These customers print about 10,000 metres of designs every hour. This is 150-120 prints every minute, he told newspersons.
The company will invest around Rs 7 crore on marketing of the new range of products, while another Rs 14 crore has been assigned to expand the sales and service network, he said.

ROWE launches wide-format printer in India
Jan 08 2013, Chennai
German company ROWE announced on Tuesday that it is foraying into the Indian market with its wide-format printers and scanners. The company has partnered CAD solutions (computer-aided design) provider CADD Centre to distribute its machines in the country.
Wide-format printing refers to larger prints beyond A3 and A4 mainly used for engineering design. ROWE’s printers and multifunction devices are priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 16 lakh based on specifications. The devices are designed to last for about 10 to 15 years and are capable of making close to quarter million prints, said R Parthasarathy, CMD of CADD group.
Founded in 1955, ROWE is a family-owned business operating in the multifunction printing segment. It has about 150 employees and sells its products in over 85 countries. Some of its large customers include Vodafone, Siemens and AMG. Over 40 per cent of the company’s customers are already present in India and hence ROWE planned to foray into the country. The initial target base would be CADD’s existing customers, Parthasarathy said.
“We will jointly invest about ¤3 million (about Rs 20 crore) over the next few years on expanding sales and service network and marketing. Over 70 per cent of the ¤1 million earmarked for marketing would be spent this year as we have planned various launch events across eight major cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. We would continue to invest in joint (product) development initiatives,” he added.
CADD is one of the large wide-format solutions providers in the country with over 3,000 customers across 26 industries including automotive, aerospace, construction, steel and power. The company plans to enter into a joint venture with ROWE in the near future to extend their relationship to markets beyond India.
“The demand for quality wide-format printing is on the increase in the country. For instance, our customers print about 10,000 metre of designs every hour day after day. That amounts to about 150 to 200 prints every minute. We expect our business to grow by about 30 per cent for the next three years,” he said.

The new India ready models have at least 10 such innovations suited to our country's weather and environment demands. For example, a good number of design customers are in coastal or high monsoon regions with high humidity and dust. A new special protection cover has been innovated to protect the print area from moisture and dust. Another important innovation is that the machines are completely closed with metal shields from all sides to prevent rats that can chew up internal wires; useful for machines used in manufacturing sites.
To succeed in India, we wanted to partner with a company that would listen to our customer needs; ROWE fits this need very well. India Learning can be the base for requirement gathering and new product definition for all our Global customers.
Investment to bring in the product to India:
A high profile marketing campaign is already launched. We will invest about 1 Million Euros over the coming years for marketing alone - including customer interface programmes, city specific shows etc. Another 2 Million Euros have been earmarked for expanding the sales and service network.
